So you want to learn how to play the guitar? Learning the guitar can be a fun experience or not. Patient is the key to learning how to play the guitar.
Make a choice whether to play electric or acoustic guitar? Nylon or steel guitar? I would recommend starting out with nylon acoustic guitar because they are much easier to play and learn. I think the best way to learn and progress in guitar playing is learning from another guitar player and teaching each others chords and progression. Other option is to take a guitar class in a community college or if your in high school take it as an elective. They usully teach you the basic chord progressions and notes.
Practive everyday when you have free time and watch youtube videos is also a good way to learn songs. After gettng use to the acoustic guitar then get an electric guitar with an amp and just take it from there. The first couple of months is the hardest time cause your fingers are still getting use to the chords, but after 6 months or so, you should be able to play some songs and progress even at a faster pace.
